I am an epic mess. Total, complete, utter disaster. And I’ve never been happier. Or more convinced that the future is bright. Β  Figures. IMG_8642 2

  1. If you’re looking for a really awesome source of information, you might want to try the book “What to Expect BEFORE You’re Expecting.” It’s filled with all sorts of great stuff! Good luck with the blog! πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for the recommendation! I just bought it as an ebook and it has already helped (I am very happy to know I can still drink tons of Earl Grey). Also, I love your blog!

  4. I found a website on Pinterest that describes in graphic details what happens to your body during and after pregnancy. Now you know how much I am aboard the baby train but this website made me second-guess myself for a spit second and that’s saying something! I didn’t post the link here because not everyone wants or has the stomach for gross stuff (I would normally put an emoticon here but can’t think of one following what I just said)

  5. As the father of three and friend/relative to no less than 6 couples I can think of off the top of my head right this second who are desperately trying but can’t seem to conceive, I know how much those people LOVE to hear advice and opinions about having babies, especially from people who have already made babies.

We conceived Ace by getting drunk on Oatmeal Stout and making the beast with two backs that same night. I’m not saying it works every time, but I’m throwing it out there, in case you’re having troubles. If it gets to the point where I have to share a plan involving getting yourself fired from work and moving into a trailer park then it’s worrisome, but there are many in between bits of info I can share before it gets to that. Just ask. Or don’t and I’ll force them upon you as I see fit…lol.

    • Oh, please just tell them at random. It’ll give me something to look forward to. You can check out the “archives” if you want to know the gory details, but there was at one point some active trying happening and then I gave up and decided I wanted to fulfill another life goal and go do a field school in Ireland this summer and pressed pause on the baby making for the time being.

I would absolutely welcome advice if it involves beer and being irresponsible. I do, however, want to keep my job.

  6. Speaking from the other side of the fence, my hubby and I are purposely child-free after 19 years of marriage. I am glad to read that you are methodically thinking through all the aspects of pregnancy and parenting that will come your way. There is a great book of baby-making essays called “Maybe Baby” by Lori Leibovich which I highly recommend to anyone who is considering pregnancy. Lots of secrets revealed!
Good luck to you and thanks for the blog!

    • Thank you! I have a literal library of pregnancy/childbirth books, so I will definitely check out “Maybe Baby.” After spending a few insanely baby-crazed months with conception as our sole focus, we’ve decided to let it be and see what happens. The topic confines of this blog have definitely loosened a little bit. πŸ™‚

  8. Just ran across an old comment from you on a long ago blog post and wondered how you and little bit were doing. Are you still across the pond or back in the states? Either way, hope you’re doing great!

    • Hellllllo! Everything’s good – just general madness around here. I’m still in the UK and will be for at least two more years. Blarf. Thanks for checking in. You’ve inspired me to post again. πŸ™‚
